Lac village belongs to Chieng Chau commune,
Mai Chau district, Hoa Binh province. It is a picturesque valley, 135 kilometers from Hanoi. According to the village elder, 85 years old, Lac village was formed the Tran Dynasty - 13th century, living mainly by rice growing and weaving. In the community of Vietnam, Thai ethnic population ranks 3rd, standing behind Tay ethnic and Kinh ethnic(Vietnamese). Women those who have husband, hair done high up in a knot. When husband dies, hair done lower down the nape in a knot. No husband, release hair.
The stilts house of Thai people is always tall, airy and clean. Despite of going through winding Cun slope and craggy Thung Nhuoi Pass, thanks to close Highway 6 so Lac village has been the exciting destination of foreign visitors. Now, the village is bustling all year round.
