The inauguration of Con Dao Museum in Ba Ria-Vung Tau

On Sep6th, People's Committee of Ba Ria-Vung Tau province organized the inauguration of Con Dao Museum at Con Dao Museum.


Con Dao Island was a prison in the war in Vietnam, it was considered as the hell in Vietnam at that time. But, Vietnamese changed and improved it into the paradise now. Con Dao Museum is also their improvement to Con Dao Island. Speaking at the ceremony,  Mr. Tran Minh Sanh who is Chairman of People's Committee of Ba Ria-Vung Tau said : Con Dao Museum that is very meaningful work, the repository of valuable historical evidence for the period was very tragic but heroic. This will be the address for locals , visitors and the source address to help people understand the value of history, the sacrifices of the brave officers and soldiers in this holy land.


The work was constructed from December in 2009 and invested by Department of Culture, Sport and Tourism of Ba Ria-Vung Tau. Con Dao Museum currently stores nearly 2,000 artifacts, including photos, artifacts blocks, paper documents,  displayed in four themes: Con Dao - nature, people; Living hell; Battle and school; Con Dao Island today.
