Nam Dinh, a quiet city

Nam Dinh is a large province in the south of the North Delta. It has two of five  biodiversity areas was recognized as the World Biosphere Reserve, three remaining areas belong to Thai Binh and Ninh Binh. Because it is a large province, it isn't crowded as Hanoi or Quang Ninh, etc, Nam Dinh is a quiet province. But, there are always many things for you to discover.

Like almost provinces in the North, Nam Dinh has also four seasons: spring, summer, autumn and winter. It is located 90 km from Hanoi to the southeast, 18 km from Thai Binh, 90 km from Hai Phong to the southwest, 28km from Ninh Binh to the east. Two World Biosphere Reserves of Nam Dinh were recognized by UNESCO in 2004 with highlight the global values of biodiversity and great impact on human life. The region includes two sub-regions located in Ba Lat of Red River and Cua Day of Day River. Xuan Thuy National Park belongs to the communes: Giao Thien, Giao An, Giao Lac, Giao Xuan of Giao Thuy district.

Vieng market in Nam Dinh is an cultural activity which is held on January 1st of Lunar Calendar every year, the market attracts many people throughout the country. Nam Dinh has also a festival which also attracts many people, it is Tran Temple Festival. Besides, a major cultural center of the province, it is Cheo Theatre located on Nguyen Du street. An La Temple (also known as Ca communal house), located in An La village, Nghia An commune, Nam Truc district, about 4 km from the center of Nam Dinh, the temple worships Nguyen Tan who is a famous general in Dinh dynasty, the festivaliss held from March 9th to 12th of Lunar Calendar every year. Phu Giay Festival, Keo Hanh Thien pagoda, Co Le pagoda, Bell Tower of Pho Minh pagoda are also the ideal destination for you. 

Nam Dinh has many specialties such as: Tam Xoan rice, Hai Hau rice and Ngu banana are two products which were risen to the king, raw jellyfish, Hai Hau grilled fish, Nam Truc dog meat, Giao Thuy pork hash, Beef Pho, Siu Chau candy, vermicelli and grilled chopped meat, Hanh Tu green bean cake, sea specialities of Hai Hau. The above dishes, Nam Dinh people often use with Binh Ri wine, very famous.
