Ben Tre, a territory of coconut

Ben Tre is a province in the Mekong Delta, it is a place which has favorable conditions for the development of eco-tourism , because there still retain original features of the garden, the good ecological environment in the green of vast coconut garden.



Ben Tre province is located at the end of the Mekong River, bordering East Sea with the coastline has a length of approximately 65 km. The north bordering Tien Giang province, the west and south bordering Vinh Long and Tra Vinh province. The center of Ben Tre is about 87 km from Ho Chi Minh city to the west. The climate is tropical monsoon, the rainy season starts from May to October, the remaining months are the dry season.

Phung Dune(known as Ong Dao Dua Dune), belonging to Tan Thach commune, Chau Thanh district, located in an islet floating between Tien River, there are the ruins with the unique architecture. Oc Dune (Hung Phong Dune) located Hung Phong commune, Giong Trom district, there are many coconut and honey for you to enjoy. A beautiful sandy beach, on 5/5 of Lunar Calendar, Tien Dune of Tien Long commune, Chau Thanh district attracted many tourists, it is considered as "Vung Tau 2".

Vam Ho bird sanctuary , a place you can see wings flying freely in the sky, located in My Hoa commune and Tan Xuan commune, Ba Tri district, this place is the home of nearly 500.000 storks and herons and other wild birds. Ben Tre has also three famous pagodas : Hoi Ton, Tuyen Linh, Vien Minh.

Coconut has become a specialty and a soul of cuisine of Ben Tre. There is Coconut festival, a special festival that you can join in. Of course, you don't need to wait for the festival, you will enjoy coconut. Ben Tre has many coconuts that appears much in dishes such as porridge, cake, other dishes. And, coconut contains good enzymes which are good for the digestive, it is used to treat stomach ulcers, hepatitis, diabetes, dysentery, haemorrhoids, colitis, polysaccharide of coconut water stimulates immunity against tuberculosis.

In addition to Coconut festival, there are famous festivals such as: Ky Yen festival, Cau Bong festival, Nghinh Ong festival. On that occasions, everyone focus to worship, entertain, eat and drink.

As above, coconut is the soul of Ben Tre, it is used to cook in many dishes such as:"che thung" (thung sweetened porridge) which is a typical sweetened porridge of Ben Tre, black bean sweetened porridge, red bean sweetened porridge, grilled coconut cake, coconut leaf salad, coconut wine, coconut with cooked rice, coconut candy.
