Location: Taking place in the mountains of Yen Tu, Thuong Yen Cong village, Uong Bi town .
Time: Organized on January 10th and lasts through March (lunar calendar) every year.
Meaning: Yen Tu is center of Buddhist of Dai Viet dynasty where is starting place of Truc Lam Zen. Visitors come to the Yen Tu Pagoda festival to separate themselves from the secular world, make religious pilgrimages between nature
Travel:
- From Hanoi, you can crossed a distance of 125 km by car, through Uong Bi city, turn into Vang Danh street, keep going about 9 kilometers and turn left. You can go to Yen Tu moutain in two ways:
- The modern cable car crosses the distance of 1.2 kilometers up to a height of 450 meters and close to Hoa Yen Pagoda. With this way, you can see paranoma of Yen Tu moutain from on high with the pine trees, dai trees which are hundreds of years old and breathe fresh air.
- By road, you will walk on a road has a length of more 6 kilometers which is reinforced by thousands of stone, the trees, under the shade of bamboo forest, pine forest.
Journey to visit Yen Tu, let's start from Giai oan stream(clear somebody of false charge stream) with a blue bridge connects the two banks of the stream. The bridge has a length of 10 meters, its architecture is not fussy but it expresses an ancient beauty. athough Tran Nhan Tong king had many beauties, he still ceded the throne to his son - Tran Anh Tong and he came to Buddha. the mandarins advised him to return but he didn't come back so they jumped into the stream to suicide. Tran Nhan Tong regretted so he made a pagoda to free their soul from suffering, then a stream called Giai Oan(clear somebody of false charge stream)
Lush lilies clump with yellow mixed white smooth in front of yard of pagoda, around the pagoda has six towers, The biggest tower is the tomb of Tran Nhan Tong king, both sides are tomb of Phap Loa monk, Huyen Chang monk.
Next, come to Hoa Yen pagoda(other names: Ca pagoda, Phu Van pagoda, Van Yen pagoda), located at an altitude of 543meters with ancient pine trees was grown since Tran Nhan Tong king led a religious life in Yen Tu
Above 700 meters, Van Tieu Pagoda lurking in the clouds on the mountain. Next, Dong pagoda(bronze pagoda) located on the top of Yen Tu at an altitude of 1068 m, this pagoda was started up in the Later Le Dynasty and called Thien Truc pagoda
In early 2007, Dong pagoda(bronze pagoda) was cast completely from pure copper( heigh of 3 meters, width of 12 meters, weigh of 60 tons) which was brought to the top of Yen Tu. Come to Dong pagoda, visitors will feel like walking on air. Yen Tu has three ancient stone tower with age nearly 300 years old. Nowhere has the forest as the tower like the tower in Yen Tu - a place associated with the legend of Tran Nhan tong king and Truc Lam zen.
Along the way, there are a number of points of interests such as: To Tower, Mot Mai pagoda(one roof pagoda), Bao Sai pagoda, Yen Ky Sinh stone statue. Ngoa Van small temple, fairy chessboard and eco-tourism : Vang waterfall (gold waterfall), Bac waterfall ( silver waterfall).
Truc Lam Yen Tu Zen monastery was built on the ruins of Lan pagoda where Tran Nhan Tong king preached for everyone.This is the largest zen monastery in Vietnam.
A pleasure as ”movement” is mountain climbing, climbing to the top where has Dong pagoda. Along the way, every few minutes, you will see the temple, tower, stream, forest, each place is fairy tales. Up to top when burning incense, everyone felt like standing in heaven.
