Hon Ba mountain in Khanh Hoa - an exciting journey

With a cool climate all year round, Hon Ba mountain in Khanh Hoa is a great destination. Conquering top of Hon Ba at an altitude of more than 1500 meters, winding ramps, dense fog, you will feel the grandeur, the beauty that nature bestowed.


About 60 kilometers from Nha Trang beach city to the south. At 6:30 am, we began to conquer top of Hon Ba.
Road up the mountain is very winding. We stopped to rest by Da Giang stream - a place is so pristine, there are water reservoirs and small streams.



Up to a height of 300 meters, we stopped in Suoi Nguon tourist area, enjoyed grilled wild chicken - a dish that I felt great. Took the effort to climb to a height of 500meters, at this level, there are bananas and durians in two sides of the road. Larger eye, we could see Nha Trang city, it is very small, funny. The higher, the more interesting, I felt cold when we passed through the clouds on the mountain



Hon Ba Natural Conservation Area was put here. According to statistics, there are about 592 species of higher plants, 401 genera and 120 of them. 43 rare species was listed in the Red Book of Vietnam such as: Hong quang, Po mu,etc. Some species was used to name places of Nha Trang and Hon Ba such as: Hon Ba Oak, Nha Trang Rhododendron, etc. Currently, the Hon Ba Natural Conservation Area is building nursery, there is sprinkler system, which is responsible for propagating rare plants with a size of about 70 hectares


Stopped at an altitude of 800-900meters, stood on halfway up the mountain, we saw a green ground. 1500 meters is the ideal height when travelling to Hon Ba, we continued our journey.


Hon Ba bore the stamp of history. 90 years ago, Dr. Alexandre Yersin (1863-1943) stopped and opened the way to the top of Hon Ba. The tomb of Dr. Alexandre Yersin was on top of the mountain where he spent his youth to work, he discovered Da Lat, set up monitoring stations, researched and found many drugs. Two storey wooden house of Alexandre Yersin has an area of 11,4 m x 8,7 m, it was restored in 2004 along with horse barn, ancient tea trees,etc.


1500 meteters is not a long road, if you love climbing or never ever climbing, you can start with mountains like Hon Ba. I'm sure you will have the exciting experience.
