Kiep Bac Shrine Festival - the festival for honor a holy of Vietnam

Kiep Bac Shrine belongs to Hung Dao commune, Chi Linh district, Hai Duong province, the worshipping place a famous general, his name is Tran Quoc Tuan who defeated the Nguyen Mong three times, saved the Tran dynasty, released people. He was regarded as the holy because of his talent in protecting the dynasty and people.

Although the main day of the festival is on August 20th of Lunar Calendar, many people often come there before the festival begins. After incense offering ceremony, it is the main ceremony with solemn liturgy. Then, ancestral tablet of Tran Hung Dao is taken on red-lacquer trimmed with gold palankeen, it is going through Tam Quan Gate toward the bank of river, it is put on dragon boat. The ceremony lasts about 2 hours and comes back the shrine to finish the festival.

There are cultural activities such as: Requiem at courtyard of Con Son Pagoda, Opening Seal Ceremony at Kiep Bac Shrine, The death anniversary of the Holy Tran on Mam Xoi Mountain,etc. One of attractive folk games of the festival is boat racing on Luc Dau River with hundreds of boats surfing as arrows in sound of drum, gong and shriek of audience.
