On April 13, 2013, Ministry of Natural Resources - Environmental Vietnam held a ceremony to receive a certificate of Ca Mau National Park is the 5 th Ramsar of Vietnam and the 2088 th of the world.
Located in the biosphere reserve of Ca Mau(was recognized in May 4,2010 by UNESCO), Mui Ca Mau National Park has a natural area of 41,862 ha (8194 ha buffer zone), with many functional areas.
Regarding biodiversity value, Mui Ca Mau National Park has its own unique flora and fauna. The fauna has 93 species of birds, 26 species of mammals, 43 species of reptiles, 9 species of amphibians, 252 species of seafood, including many rare species such as:Legs gray pelicans, Jiang Sen, China White Stork, Otter, Black back box turtle, Big neck turtle, Tortoise South, Teeth turtle. Regarding the flora, 60 species of higher plants 6 mangrove species and 2 species : Duoc Doi and Quao Nuoc in Vietnam's Red Book..
Ramsar Convention is the Convention on wetlands of international importance, especially as the habitat of water birds. This Convention is created and approved by the participating nations at a meeting in the city of Ramsar, Iran on February 2, 1971 and effective December 21, 1975. Ramsar list of wetlands has international importance at present (known as Ramsar site).
